Some blessings arrive in big, unforgettable moments. Others are found in simple things—a quiet morning, a colorful garden or a warm cup of tea filled with ingredients grown from the earth.

Berry Blessings combines green tea, strawberries, peppermint, lemon balm, lemongrass, hibiscus and wild orange essential oil. The result is a bright, refreshing blend with sweet berry flavor, cooling mint and a cheerful touch of citrus.

Beyond its beautiful flavor, each ingredient contributes natural plant compounds that researchers continue to study. Let’s look at the science behind this colorful cup while remembering that tea supports an overall wellness routine—it is not intended to replace medical care or treat disease.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” — Psalm 34:8

Green Tea: Gentle Energy and Antioxidant Support

Green tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. Unlike herbal teas, green tea naturally contains caffeine, although the amount in a cup is generally lower than the amount found in coffee.

Green tea also contains naturally occurring polyphenols called catechins. One of the most studied is epigallocatechin gallate, commonly known as EGCG. These plant compounds demonstrate antioxidant activity and may help support the body’s natural defenses against oxidative stress.

Researchers have also studied the combination of caffeine and L-theanine naturally found in green tea. A scientific review of 21 studies found evidence suggesting that green tea may support attention, memory and certain aspects of normal brain function. The researchers noted that these effects appeared to involve the combined influence of several green tea compounds rather than one ingredient acting alone. Read the review on PubMed.

This makes Berry Blessings a lovely option for mornings or afternoons when you want a gentle lift with less caffeine than a typical cup of coffee.

Strawberries: Sweet Flavor and Colorful Plant Compounds

Strawberries bring natural sweetness and familiar berry flavor to this blend. They also contain vitamin C and a variety of polyphenols, including anthocyanins, ellagic acid and flavonoids.

These compounds help give strawberries their rich color and have demonstrated antioxidant activity. Research involving whole strawberries and concentrated strawberry preparations suggests that strawberry polyphenols may help support the body’s normal antioxidant and metabolic processes.

A review published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences examined laboratory, epidemiological and clinical research surrounding strawberry polyphenols. The authors found encouraging evidence, while emphasizing that the effects can depend upon the amount consumed and the form in which the strawberries are used. Explore the strawberry research on PubMed.

The amount of strawberry present in a cup of Berry Blessings is not equivalent to eating a full serving of fresh strawberries or taking a concentrated extract. In this blend, strawberries provide flavor, color and a small contribution of naturally occurring plant compounds.

Peppermint: A Cool and Refreshing Finish

Peppermint adds a clean, cooling note that balances the sweetness of the strawberries and the tartness of the hibiscus.

Peppermint leaves naturally contain menthol, menthone, rosmarinic acid and several flavonoids. Peppermint has traditionally been enjoyed after meals, and laboratory research suggests that some of its compounds may interact with smooth muscle in the digestive system.

Much of the strongest digestive research has involved concentrated peppermint oil rather than brewed peppermint leaves. For that reason, we cannot assume that peppermint tea will produce the same results. It is most accurate to say that peppermint tea may gently support comfortable digestion while providing a refreshing flavor and aroma.

A scientific review of peppermint examined its traditional uses, chemistry and biological activity. The authors found promising evidence but also noted the need for additional human studies involving brewed peppermint tea. Read the peppermint review on PubMed.

Lemon Balm: Traditionally Used for Calm

Lemon balm, or Melissa officinalis, is a member of the mint family with a soft lemon scent. It has a long history of traditional use during moments of rest and relaxation.

Researchers have studied lemon balm for its potential relationship with mood, stress and cognitive performance. A systematic review and meta-analysis found encouraging results involving lemon balm and emotional well-being. However, many of the included studies used measured doses of lemon balm extracts rather than ordinary brewed tea. View the lemon balm review on PubMed.

Because extracts are more concentrated than a cup of tea, Berry Blessings should not be expected to create the same results. Within this blend, lemon balm provides a gentle herbal note and may help support a peaceful tea-drinking ritual.

Sometimes the benefit of tea is also found in the practice itself: warming the water, waiting while the herbs steep and allowing ourselves a few quiet minutes to breathe.

Lemongrass: Bright, Citrusy and Refreshing

Lemongrass contributes a fresh citrus flavor that pairs beautifully with strawberries and wild orange.

The plant contains naturally occurring compounds such as citral, flavonoids and phenolic acids. Laboratory studies have found antioxidant activity in lemongrass preparations, but human research involving ordinary lemongrass tea remains limited.

For this reason, it is best to appreciate lemongrass as a flavorful herbal ingredient containing interesting plant compounds rather than presenting it as a treatment for a particular health condition.

Hibiscus: Vibrant Color from Natural Anthocyanins

Hibiscus gives Berry Blessings its gorgeous berry-red color and pleasantly tart flavor. The deep color comes partly from anthocyanins—the same general family of plant pigments found in many red, purple and blue fruits.

Hibiscus has been studied for its antioxidant properties and its potential relationship with normal cardiovascular and metabolic functions. Systematic reviews of clinical trials have reported encouraging findings, but the amounts of hibiscus, preparation methods and study populations have varied. More research is needed to determine how those findings apply to different tea blends and everyday serving sizes. Read a hibiscus systematic review on PubMed.

Berry Blessings contains hibiscus as one ingredient in a multi-herb blend. Therefore, a cup should not be compared directly with the concentrated hibiscus preparations or specific daily quantities used in clinical studies.

Wild Orange Essential Oil: A Bright Burst of Flavor

A small amount of wild orange essential oil gives Berry Blessings a bright, aromatic finish that brings the berry, mint and citrus flavors together.

Orange oil is recognized for use as a flavoring agent in foods under appropriate conditions. In this blend, wild orange essential oil is included for flavor and aroma—not as a concentrated therapeutic dose. Learn about orange oil as a food flavoring from the FDA.

Only essential oils specifically appropriate for food use should be included in consumable products, and they must be used in carefully measured amounts.

A Colorful Collection of Antioxidant Compounds

One of the most interesting qualities of Berry Blessings is the variety of plant compounds gathered into one cup.

Green tea supplies catechins. Strawberries and hibiscus contribute colorful polyphenols and anthocyanins. Peppermint and lemon balm contain rosmarinic acid and flavonoids, while lemongrass adds its own aromatic and phenolic compounds.

Antioxidants help the body maintain balance as normal metabolism and environmental exposures produce unstable molecules known as free radicals. However, laboratory antioxidant activity does not prove that a tea will prevent disease or create a particular health outcome in the human body.

It simply shows us that these plants contain much more than flavor. They carry complex natural compounds that scientists are still working to understand.

A Gentle Alternative to Coffee or Sugary Drinks

Berry Blessings offers a flavorful way to add variety to your daily hydration. It can be enjoyed hot for a comforting morning or afternoon cup, or chilled over ice for a refreshing alternative to soda and other sweetened beverages.

Because the blend contains green tea, it is not caffeine-free. The exact amount of caffeine will depend upon the quantity of green tea used, the serving size, water temperature and steeping time.

If you are sensitive to caffeine, consider enjoying Berry Blessings earlier in the day or steeping it for a shorter period.

How to Enjoy Berry Blessings

Steep Berry Blessings in freshly heated water according to the package directions. To protect the gentler flavor of the green tea, avoid allowing the water to remain at a hard, rolling boil when it is poured over the blend.

Enjoy it:

  • Warm as a gentle morning or afternoon lift

  • Poured over ice for a refreshing berry-citrus drink

  • With a small amount of honey for additional sweetness

  • With fresh strawberry or orange slices for a beautiful presentation

  • During prayer, journaling or a quiet break in your day

Thoughtful Precautions

Berry Blessings contains caffeine from green tea. People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, sensitive to caffeine, taking medication or managing a health condition should ask a qualified healthcare professional whether the blend is appropriate for them.

Green tea, hibiscus, lemon balm and peppermint may interact with certain medications or may not be suitable for every individual. Peppermint may also aggravate heartburn or reflux in some people.

This tea should not be used as a substitute for medication or professional medical care. Stop using it if an unwanted reaction occurs.

Finding Blessings in the Everyday

Berry Blessings was created as a reminder that wellness does not always begin with something dramatic. Sometimes it begins with choosing a colorful cup instead of a sugary drink, pausing long enough to breathe or noticing the remarkable plants God has placed all around us.

The science helps us appreciate the catechins, anthocyanins, flavonoids and aromatic compounds within these ingredients. Faith reminds us to remain grateful for the hands that grew them, the earth that nourished them and the quiet moments in which we get to enjoy them.

Berry Blessings is bright, fruity, refreshing and gently energizing—a simple cup filled with color, flavor and reasons to be thankful.
