Did you know ocean saltwater has a ton of health benefits?! There are so many in fact, that our vacations should be covered through health insurance, (if our insurance actually covered wellness rather than sickness)! Some of the health benefits include:


  1. Skin Health: Saltwater contains minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium, which helps improve skin hydration, reduce inflammation, and promote healing of minor wounds and irritations. Swimming in saltwater also helps to unclog pores and remove toxins from the skin!

  2. Respiratory Health: Inhaling the mist or vapor from ocean saltwater, commonly known as "sea mist" or "sea spray," has respiratory benefits. The negatively charged ions in salt particles in the air can help to clear mucus and reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract, providing relief for conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and sinusitis!

  3. Stress Reduction: Spending time near the ocean, whether swimming in saltwater or simply relaxing on the beach, has been shown to have stress-reducing effects. The calming sound of ocean waves and the negative ions present in ocean air help promote relaxation and mental well-being.

  4. Joint and Muscle Pain Relief: Saltwater baths, either in the ocean or with added sea salt in a bathtub, are recommended for relieving muscle aches, joint pain, and stiffness. The minerals in saltwater can help relax muscles, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation, providing temporary relief from soreness and discomfort.

  5. Immune System Support: Research suggests that exposure to saltwater helps boost the immune system. The minerals present in saltwater, particularly magnesium and selenium, play important roles in immune function and help the body defend against infections and illness. Studies also reveal a 5-20% red blood cell increase which helps the body fight pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and parasites!

  6. Improved Circulation: Swimming in saltwater helps improve blood circulation by stimulating the body's natural circulation processes. This improved circulation benefits overall cardiovascular health and helps reduce the risk of conditions such as high blood pressure and atherosclerosis!

  7. Therapeutic Effects: Saltwater therapy, also known as thalassotherapy, has been practiced for centuries as a form of natural healing. It involves various treatments using seawater, seaweed, and other marine elements to promote health and well-being, with potential benefits for conditions such as arthritis, eczema, and psoriasis.


The beach has always been my favorite place to be. Until now, I never realized why I was physically craving it. It's so amazing to think that God provided us with everything we need holistically to be well when we learn how to listen to our bodies and of course, have the means to provide for it. I adore science and all that it offers but trust more in a God that created what science tries to understand.


If you have the money and resources to go to the beach, your body will mentally and physically thank you for it! If you don't, check out our Magnesium spray and visit a local water source such as a lake, river or even a crick/creek. You can still cleanse a lot of negativity in the presence of any water source. Something is better than nothing while you start planning a trip to the ocean soon.
